Is it possible to put a pre-recorded video on IGTV? Actually, after integrating all videos on Instagram, there is no such thing as IGTV. Still, for posting videos, you are able to post pre-recorded videos on stories, posts, slide posts, and reels. In fact, it is only on lives that posting a pre-recorded video is impossible. If you want to know how to put a pre-recorded video on Instagram, read this article.
As a social networking service for sharing photos and videos, Instagram is so well-known among young and older adults. It was founded in 2010, and working with it was easy at first. However, with different features such as stories, posts, reels, slide posts, and lives, it is not as simple as it used to be. Add to it many filters you can use and hashtags and geographical tagging you can have. All these various properties may confuse many people, especially digital immigrants.
Can I post a prerecorded video on IGTV?
It is possible to post prerecorded videos on stories, posts, slide posts, and reels, but it is not feasible for lives. You may wonder what the difference between the abovementioned features is. Stories are mainly focused on real-time events and will be disappeared after 24 hours, although in newer updates, you have the chance to save stories as highlights. Posts and slide photos stay forever on your profile, and it would be better to use them for a mixture of related photos and videos and now also for longer videos. Reels are similar to what was previously called IGTV; in it, you can share videos for up to 90 seconds.
What is the difference between reels and IGTV?
In the past, in reels, you could share videos that were up to 60 seconds, but in IGTV you could share videos that were up to 60 minutes. As a result, reels were used mainly for entertaining content, and IGTV was used mostly for informative and educational, similar to YouTube videos. But, on the other hand, based on the Instagram algorithm, reels, unlike IGTV had more chances of being found by new audiences. So, to have a good page with a high number of views, you should have posted videos both as reels and IGTV videos.
Now, all videos – be it an IGTV video, a reel, or a post– are integrated, and all of them are called videos and are shown on the feed.
How to upload prerecorded videos on IGTV?
As it was mentioned, there is no longer a feature as IGTV. Thus, you can upload short and long videos the same way. However, if you upload a long video – longer than 60 seconds – Instagram shows the first 60 seconds as a preview to people on their feeds and, after that, asks them if they want to continue watching or not. So, the first 60 seconds of your videos are so important because, based on that, your audience chooses to watch it or not. Moreover, reels are now videos up to 90 seconds long (only 60 seconds of the video is shown on the feed), and videos up to 10 minutes can be uploaded as posts ( only 60 seconds of the video is shown on the feed).
In order to upload a long video on Instagram, follow these steps:
- Open the Instagram app or enter the Instagram website.
- Log into your Instagram account.
- Tap or click on the (+) sign in the middle of the bottom line of the screen to add a video.
- Choose “ post” if it is more than 90 seconds.
- Choose the video from your gallery and tap on the “next” icon.
- “trim” the video if you would like and tap “next”
- You can write captions, tag people, or add a location at this stage. Then click on “share”
- The video is uploaded to your profile.
Now the video is available on your profile, and the first 60 seconds will be shown to your audience on their feeds. If they find the video useful, they can watch the full-length video by clicking on the “keep watching” button.
